old trials fanatic
Well as the title suggests does anybody know what size taper roller bearings will fit the headstock on a D14/4 Bantam ? I can machine the stem on the yokes to suit so within reason the id doesn't matter. Thanks in anticipation.
andy m
There isn't one that fits straight in, I had some sleeves made to take a std off the shelf bearing set. Without stripping I can't advise. If you use a decent bearing supplier they should sort out the nearest to your head stock and yoke stem size. The sleeves sit in the headstock the bearings drop in.
andy m
It was made to a tight tolerance and had to be drifted in, if you had some that were n't so tight maybe loctite would do ??

old trials fanatic
OK Charlie I'm admonished. Taken a look and looks good. I think I like Andys method so will probably pursue that route but knowing me I will get distracted and will probably end up just buying a frame off somebody. thanks for the info

charlie prescott
Hi Guy's. Hi Blocky, Look I will do the page on my web site ,about the tools and the jig this week end. I have promised to do it for a long time , and have most of the pictures! Just need to do the wording. The tool for swaging the headstock is quite simple to make, and takes the size down to 47mm, to take an available bearing, and well worth doing. Glad you enjoy BSA Otter.Com. That's what I built the site for ?to give information about building up Brit Bikes, and where to get the parts to do this ,with less hassle . "Britshocks" are still possibly the cheapest class, to get into Classic trials riding. If you use your head and not your wallet? To much anyway!!! Regards Charlie.
