Techno Engine Removal

Well, you went from jetting to engine removal. You could fill in the blanks. I usually drain the oil remove the skid plate. Remove flywheel and stator. If you are doing an engine rebuild, I would remove the clutch basket and the primary gear off the crank. Then I would pull the cylinder and then the motor. Just my two cents.

yes I'm an expert at taking the carb off and stripping it in 5 minutes flat but it has dawned on me that it is the crank seals that are causing my smoking techno woes so I'm going to strip the engine and check out the seals and main bearings and replace if needed. I;ve never taken the engine out of the frame before and just wanted some tips on how to do so.

Patience, plastic mallet, slowly work each end a little at a time. Do not damage the center case leading edges. Have the engine laying on it`s side, clutch side down. You do not want the transmission falling out. You can cut an old tire tube into strips that make great rubber holding bands for the gears and such.
