osiris
Hi guys! I've recently assembled my new Montesa 4rt 260 2014 at home in Russia. In base it has road exhaust pipe, i guess, with the catalyst inside and narrow end of the pipe. Now i have not replaced it with a wide pipe (it is in the package) yet, and it seems that the engine revs up a bit slow and achieves seems about 3500-4000 rpm with open throttle on N gear. I guess this engine should up to 10 000 rpm. That's why the bike rides a bit gently. What should i do if i need make the engine spins better? May be it is related with electrical issues? And I've mounted a sport front light instead of road one. Where can i get a 12V connector? Sorry for my english in advance:)) Will appreciate your advices Andrey
guys
There used to be 4 restrictors in the 250 4RT: One where the exhaust meets the cylinder head, one between the front pipe and rear exhaust damper, one in the end of the exhaust and one in the intake, between the throttle body and cylinder head. There also used to be an electronic restrictor but I don't remember exactly how one has to "bypass" that one. It had something to do withe a green/white wire... Mind you, this was all on the 250cc model, don't know what they did to the new 260...
jj65
You need to remove all the road kit, as it restricts power, obviously the supplying dealer didn't do this for you. Get in touch with them and get them to tell you what to do. The UK bikes come without the road kit now, so there's no restrictors fitted. Rollox
Hi Andrey, ask your dealer for the Honda manual "Kit Full Power Cota 4RT 260 (YM14-Eng).pdf". Or have a look here: http://www.montesa4rt.nl/data/2014_cota-4rt260-full_power-uk.pdf If you do the whole substitution process you will find the power you´re looking for. jj65
I just got a new Montesa 4rt Repsol 260 full power model. Can anyone tell me if the bike as any exhaust restrictors? Thanks. Where did you buy it from, uk or Europe ? If, as you say, it's a unrestricted "full power" 260, then no, it won't have any restrictors. It's only the ones with the road kit that are restricted and uk bikes came without the road kit.
hubmed11
I bought the bike in the USA. From a Honda dealer. It is "full power" on the documentation.
osiris
Hi guys! I've recently removed all the mechanic restrictors as it described in "Kit Full Power Cota 4RT 260 (YM14-Eng).pdf" I would notice the bike breath with full lungs now! The sound became deep, harder. It seems the engine revs are about 8-9000. There is much more power then before. A one relay is on the road lamp assembly, this relay needs to be connected directly to the electrical chain, coz the fan is related of it. There is no info about this relay in the document. I've demounted o a alot of wires regarding back lamp assembly, speed sensor, break lever sensors. Thank you for help! Now I am very happy with my new Montesa!
