amca trials
Buttyfold Farm was the venue for Round 7 of the AMCA Winter Championship. Set beneath the famous Roaches in the heart of the peak district where no fewer than 47 riders turned out to do battle. Sunshine was ordered but didn’t appear instead a dry but bitterly cold wind arrived and blew all day long. However these conditions didn’t bother either Sam Yeomans Jst Gas Gas UK or Billy Craig P7 Gas Gas as both riders managed to go clean all day on the expert route leaving them to tie in joint 1st place which believe me was no easy feat, followed home by Robbie Turner & Pete Ruscoe on 13 & 14 marks respectively. The clubman class saw the bulk of the entries with 18 riders, 1st place went to Ian Peberdy dropping only 4 marks on his immaculate Dot, which made his long journey from Basingstoke worthwhile (however he was visiting family). A tight battle behind Ian saw Graham Jones & Bill Bourne follow him home on 9 & 10 marks to Graham’s advantage. In the non-expert class it was David Butler from Stoke who won with 5 marks lost, Paul Mountford & Simon Butterworth followed in 2nd & 3Rd place. Only two beginners started the trial and both finished with Andrew Stanley beating Robert Joule into first place. Thank you to all the riders for coming and supporting us. A special thanks to all our observers who braved the cold wind and Mr J Day for the use of his land. Thanks again, Big Phil.
