skyline1
Hi All My 2013 Beta Evo will not start or run when it does start. I have stripped down all the fuel side & it is clean. I then noticed that it does not have a spark. I stripped & cleaned down as many connections as I could while I was out on site but would not work. I look after it as I should by cleaning & removing the flywheel cover after every outing. Is it likely to be the stator or should I be looking at something else? thanks in advance, Nige
steve fracy
have you tried dis-connecting the kill switch first???
skyline1
Now that you mention it I have 2 on mine a button & a lanyard. I run them in parallel. but I only disconnected the lanyard one I fitted & left the factory fitted one. I guess I should pull them both to make sure. I dont think it is them though because it runs & then stops without touching them.
skyline1
Well I never! It was the factory kill switch, right in the sealed plug where the black & white wires go in & are crimped in to the very small female plugs. After asking my local trials bike dealer to order me a new stator & cdi I kicked the bike off last night & it ran no problem, so I looked at the plug while the bike was running & it cut out. i let go & kicked the bike off again & it fired up no problem, twisted the plug & it cut out. I did this a few times to make sure & then unplugged the stop switch & started the bike & it ran no issues at all. after that I cut off both plug connections bought some nice new ones & soldered them on & shrink wrapped the whole lot to keep the water out. Job done. I took a closer look at the female plug & stripped it down to confirm things once & for all. Once opened you could see where the wires were earthing out.
