souls
Hello everyone, I'm confused to what bike I own. I was told by the person who I bought the bike from that it was a 300cc 2005 txt pro. Quickly after I bought it I found out that was not the case, I decided to check the chassis number to check for the year and model. The number I got is VTRGG300203030072, this seems to indicate that it's a 2003 300. After looking online I can't seem to find any handbooks or information on this bike. Any idea guys? Thanks

souls
Thanks for the fast reply but there doesn't seem to be a 300cc txt pro 2003 model handbook. I don't know if the bike even exist which is what's confusing me.

souls
Yup, even there the manuals only go up to 280, my chassis number says GG300, so if my bike a 280 2003 or 300?

thats_a_five
GasGas has not been very meticulous in record keeping or maintaining consistency of parts, even in the same year and model. And sometimes a bike that is built in one year is sold in a different year and the seller gets things wrong on the paperwork. If you go to the site from Gasserguy, on pages 5 and 6 you can see the models that are listed from 2002, to 2004. On the right is an icon of a camera. Click that and you can see pics of the bikes. The colors of the bikes change among the different models. Maybe that will help you determine what you have. http://www.gasgasmot.../manuals/5.html Of course, since 2002, someone may have swapped some parts on your bike so it could be a 2005 engine in a 2003 frame?? souls
Thanks for the help, the bike has been sprayed a different colour and has 05 decals on it. I think the only way to go from here is take the head gasket off and measure it to find out the size of the engine.
zippy
I have a 2003 TXT PRO 300. It has blue plastics. As far as I understand how this all worked out is this. 2002 - Pro engine introduced 125, 200, 250, 280 2003 - Pro engine tweeked for reliability and 300 added at some point in the year 2004 - 300 Officially released with silver plastics etc.. and some fanfare. If I am incorrect, someone will correct it. OH and if you would like to look at pics of different years http://gasgasmuseum.com/ seems as though the museum site is currently having difficulties. I am unable to click anything or nivigate on that site. Edited April 12, 2014 by zippy

Sometimes on the side of the cylinder there will be a casting mark like "GG28", which would indicate a 280 size cylinder. Jon

There appears to be an engine number on the crankcases just below the exhaust port if that helps

zippy
I walked my lazy butt into the garage and looked at my frame number Yours is VTRGG300203030072 Mine is VTRGG30020403xxxx So would the number suggest GG300 made Febuary 03 of 2003 and yours is number 72 to come off the production line? Just curious what all those numbers mean Also stamped in the cylinder next to exhaust port on clutch lever side is GG30

Just curious what all those numbers mean Also stamped in the cylinder next to exhaust port on clutch lever side is GG30 I used this to help me: Example: VTRGG 2800 0200 9955 VTR = International manufacturers code. VTR = GasGas GG = Trial model (Company code to identify model EC = Enduro & MX, FS = Four Stroke, WD = Quads) 2800 = 280 model, year 2000 0200: 02 = Manufacture month. (2ND month) February. 00 = Year of manufacture 2000. 9955 = sequential chassis number (9,955th built in this year.) 2004 and newer (after July 2003) Example: VTRGG 3002 D093 9955VTR = International manufacturers code. VTR = GasGas GG = Trial model (Company code to identify model EC = Enduro & MX, FS = Four Stroke, WD = Quads) 3002: 30 = 300 model. 02 = (02 = year of Europe homogulation N/A USA) D093: D = 2003 ALPHA CODE FOR MODEL YEAR. 09 = Manufacture month (9TH month) September. 3 = Year of manufacture 2003. 9955 = sequential chassis number. (9,955th built in this year.)
