Rear Brake Lever Height

Hi guys,

Recently bought a 2008 raga 250. I can't figure a way to lower the rear brake lever so it's on the same level as the foot peg. The adjustment bolt has only one nut, and when fully tightened the lever is still an inch or so higher than the peg. I'll try to post photos of the mechanism.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As you can see in the picture, there's a small rod with a nut at the rear of the lever.

If you loosen the nut you can turn in the rod an that way the lever will go down.

Be careful though: if you adjust the lever to low it's possible that the lever will touch the frame so you can't apply full braking power.

At least that's the case on my 2012 Racing 280. I also tried to adjust the brake lever on the same level as the footpegs (like on my 4RT), but this wasn't possible.

Also be sure to adjust the small bolt and nut in the middle of the lever, so that the lever has a little play before the rod touches the brake master plunjer.

However, this doesn't apply to my bike. My rear brake pedal is different. Hope this store wouldn't mind my using the image.

The adjustment rod goes all the way in into this rear holder. The only solution I can think of right now is to eighter grind a couple of mm of the top of the rod or to thread it all the way up. Or I can just adapt).

Aha, I see. Just make sure that the plunger isn't restricted in it's movement.

I got used to the height of the brake lever but in my case it's only about half an inch higher than the foot peg.

I modified the shape of the brake pedal for my 4RT to get it tucked in closer to the engine. In the process, I had to grind the top of the plunger rod about 3 to 4 mm. Works fine. Remember to grind the same shape as the original plunger and as Guys said, be sure there is some play between the plunger and the piston. Otherwise, it might prevent the pads from moving away from the disc fully. When this happens, the brakes will drag and things will get very hot! Hot enough to oil the fluid and the thermal expansion will gradually lock up your brake. Don't ask how I know. :wall:
