29markt
Hi, Can anyone offer assistance in how to correctly set the timing on a 200 Cota? I recently purchased the bike in 90% restored condition, but for the life of me It will not start. Checked plug gap, getting a good spark but refuses to burst into life. Any help appreciated.....P.s is the kick start position key to proceedings? Cheers, Mark
paulc76
Hi ignition timing from memory is around 20-21 degrees btdc you will need a plug stop tool and a degree disc i however had exactly the same problem with mine and it turned out to be the replacement coil i had fitted pu the old genuine motoplat one and it fired straight up. you have to make sure the kickstart gear is set properly so it disengages at the top of its stroke if you get it wrong you will damage you clutch case regards Paul
29markt
Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply, I will follow your info and see how we go from there, as regards the Kickstart Gear, is there a procedure to follow in regards setting? As I mentioned, the bike was purchased 90% restored, and I am unsure as to whether the previous owner tinkered prior to me purchasing. Thanks again, Mark
lineaway
My 200 was the easiest thing to start as long as the pilot jet was clear. Sorry about the line!
