moulder75
Has anyone else had to replace the cog between the kickstart and the clutch basket. When the problem occurs it sounds like the bottom end has gone. I have changed my second cog now on my 05 280 Pro!!!!!! ? moulder75
No trust me this is a whole different sound. When you look at the cog the pitch of the teeth are snapped etc. BVM say they have had a lot of 05 bikes break. The metal is not hard enough and it does it when you mess the start up and it backfires on ya etc. Either way i must be the only one on this forum lol The sound goes up with the engine revs due to the clutch spinning with the engine etc.
jtt
Are we talking about the fan shaped cog on the kickstarter shaft? I've not seen one break over here...mind we don't have the number of them you folks do. I heard of guys breaking them on the '02 models, but that was often down to having moved the kickstarter on the spline and allowing the gear to roll past it's limit of engagement. My Clutch has just gone now, another 40 quid down the drain!!
moulder75
At last someone with the same problem. I like my bikes running right but out of interest how long have you been putting up with the rattle, and whats wrong with your clutch? Is it the clutch plates wearing out? Im getting my new cog tomorrow so should be ready for some well earned practice at the weekend. Iv not ridden for three weeks after a boys p*** up holiday in Kavos . Also with regards to the fan shaped cog, is the last tooth on the end half the height of the rest? I just want to make sure this is the case before I put the bike back together. When I say half the size I mean that the peak of the tooth is missing. This is the first tooth which engages with the cog. Hope this makes some sense to somebody Tony Moulder - Normally found in a big pile on the floor after stacking big style lol
