tonyp884
Hey Guys, I just bought a really nice 1997 Fantic Section (Aluminum Frame) . I'd welcome any suggestions of any type. I bought this bike after owning a 91 Fantic 309. So far, I've noticed that the '97 Section is much harder to start, sometimes taking 6,7,8, or so kicks. My 309 always started on the first or second kick. I'd love to improve the starting. I'd also love to find a flywheel weight for the Section. While the suspension on the Section is much nicer, I have no idea what to do wih the adjustments on each fork leg, dampning? / rebound? . +/- . Is the rear suspension adjustable? I ride Novice and weigh 165lbs. Thanks, Tony P Charlotte, NC USA
lineaway
Should start 1st or 2nd kick. try a good carb clean. Adjustments should be close to all sections. I`ll try to lacate one of my manuals. Good luck!
tonyp884
I've ordered a new needle and seat to install when I clean the carb. I'd appreciate basic settings on air screw float level, etc. I'd gladly pay for a copy of a manual. Tony P
hutchph998
Hey Tony I had a 97 loved it with the flywheel weight and a slow action throttle as usual Bill Pye in Yorkshire is y'man, enjoy the bike. H
tonyp884
Thanks for the information. Anyone know how much Bill Pye would charge for a flywheel weight shipped to the USA ? I have no idea how to contact him. Thanks, Tony Powers Charlotte, NC USA
ronoc88
Tony I too bought a 97 section recently, and was pleasently suprised by the bike overall. Mine too seemed hard to start however as previously suggested, a carb clean made all the difference to mine. I also would suggest that you turn off the fuel tap after every use, this is not so easy on my bike as the fuel tap is so tight behind the frame. Is this the same on your bike. tonyp884
Connor, I had to modify that petcock by drilling the "handle" and putting a 4mmx40mm boly on it. Hard to explain, works well. I could send a digital photo if you like. Tony P
tonyp884
I meant to say bolt, NOT boly! Tony P
tonyp884
I really need a side stand or kickstand for this Fantic Section. I'm in the USA, any help would be appreciated. Tony P
ronoc88
Tony Would you mind forwarding those pic on to ronoc88@hotmail.com or even post em up here. I will have to do something similar with that tap myself. Cheers Con
axulsuv
Tony, If you still need a kickstand you can see if my spare 240 one will work. Are you going to shooting creek? I'll be there both days... Time to get my feet wet again? seeya Glenn

tonyp884
Well today, I finally found time to work on the Section that was very hard to start. Cleaned air filter, cleaned carb, installed new needle and seat, installed new fuel vent hoses. Still hard to start. Checked plug and realized that plug was gapped at about .35 or .40 . After I re-gapped the plug to .20, the bike started right up, runs great now. Starts first or second kick. Made me so happy, I got out the buffer and polished the aluminum frame. I also checked and found that I have the added flywheel weight. Now if I only understood the fork adjustments and how to use them. Is the rear suspension adjustable? And sorry for the dlay, but we LOST our digital camera a couple of weeks ago, so I could not post a photo of the fuel tap modification. Today, I used my dogotal camcorder to make a video, and converted that to a still image, so, hope this works! Thanks for all of your help! I really like this bike, much nicer than my 309.
