jam
Just got back from Hawkstone, a fantastic day and result in all classes. Anyone know what fuel the HRC team use in the 4T? cus it's NOT neat petrol, you can smell some sort of additive.
subira
They always used elf race gas in the 2 strokes and its smell is very distinctive. So probably the Repsol 4 stroke race mix ?
nigel dabster
Probably elf race gas.
marky g
Them bikes were fully sorted though! sounded great, even after they were trashed they just ticked over like a swiss watch!............. very cool
atomant
Those 4RT's certainly did the business. Dont know what they done to them but they are certainly in a different league to the ones I have seen so far.. Also, love that bark they make too They also seemed to be more suited to the terrain as I'm sure they were flying up them banks with more punch than the 2 strokes. Dont know if anyone else noted that??? I was stood at section 7 for the first round and when Fujinami went through it looked awesome. Good advert for 4 strokes that was
boofont
There was a steep climb mid way through Section 12 at Hawkstone, the first bike to make it up there after several attempts by the 125's was John Sunter on the Mont, and it flew up! Many of the top riders failed on their works 2 strokes too, the Monts ruled supreme! I moved on after the first lap so I don't know if anyone faired any better on Lap 2. hasbeen
Watched at 7 on second lap and the Monts were ace Fuji had the only clean of the trial Dougie had 1. The only 2 stroke to do as well was Cabestany.
atomant
The only 2 stroke to do as well was Cabestany. Yes, Caby did well looked to me like Raga doesn't like that sort of terrain. I know he was complaining about the level of difficulty before the event.. Put him on some rocks and hes majestic .. slippery damp earthen banks/rocks not his cup of tea it appears. harrytrialsboy
i was watching on section 5 and section 7 and the way toni bou was riding i thought he'd won absolutely awesome the way he was throwing that bike around
shercool
Wish i'd been tere, had to work though All Raga seems to want to do is ride big steps so he can show off, stick him on some different terrain and he moans. Would like to know how much of the works Monts are standard.
marky g
there going to be trick for sure, but at least it shows what can be done with the mont engine.
neonsurge
All Raga seems to want to do is ride big steps so he can show off, stick him on some different terrain and he moans. We were watching the world riders' official practise on Saturday afternoon and most riders were working really hard, especially Dougie, Fuji and Cabestany. Raga shows up, rides around for a bit (but doesn't really attack anything) then sits at the bottom chatting and watching for the rest of the session. Obviously part of some master plan to lull his opponents into a true sense of security...
neonsurge
Bou looked brilliant, i will never forget his attack on section 5 on the first lap. He just jumped off the huge drop and twisted enough in mid air to avoid the tapes. I would have been picking my balls out of my ankles if that had been me!!!! I was stood right in front of that drop and thought that he was going to land on top of me! "Surely he's not thinking of.... bloody hell, he is! Look out, incoming!" bikespace
The Honda's seemed to do very well when they needed to be opened right up. 4th gear (I think) on section 7 and flat out and they went up like a big crosser. Sounded so powerful at high revs. They seemed to be slightly less able on the practice sections on Saturday where they had to sort of hop, hop, hop, up the steep slope. Low end pick up didn't sound as convincing as the 2 strokes. Raga was flying up the last practice section, but maybe technique had something to do with it. Freixa stalled his on our section, just seemed to splutter. He brilliantly managed to balance for about 5 seconds on the slope, got his kickstart out and got it going.
