scorpa3
Stratford Upon Avon MC Club Trial Sambourne Farm 7-8-05 Steve Harris smashed the form book with a perfect ride of the 40 Expert sections at Sambourne Hall farm near Studley on Sunday. The long ride around Sambourne farm was made even longer by the mid week rain which stopped farm manager Dave Heming's combining. The large 'flat in top' field used in previous years still had crops on it, so some careful headland deviations were needed. The 10ft vertical drop to the left of the narrow path certainly slowed everyone down. Former Stratford Club Youth Champion Harris had the measure of the tight turns in and out of the deep streams around the farm. With Harris finishing on zero, runner up John Cowleys chance of a win disappeared at section seven on the first lap when he misjudged the height of the raised log and needed a very long dab to stop his Gas Gas from looping the loop. The tight turn onto the log took marks from all on the A route apart from Harris and third place man Michael James. Mick Chapman yet again topped the less severe B route dropping just 5 marks, one better than Scorpa mounted Pete Barnett. Chapman was the only rider on the clubman route to stay clean at muddy rooted section two in the ponies paddock. On the easier C route, Andy Bishop 'just' edged out Barry 'Justice' by 11 marks to 12 despite loosing concentration and having a stray dab in the shallow water at section nine. Chris O'Brien finished on 13 which was a superb ride on a Beta AlpTrail bike. Congratulations also to class D rider Chris Wickham competing in only his second ever event. Chris completed all four laps of the trial and attempted every section on his 80cc Beta, father and minder Pete Wickham did his best to follow round but even the local iron man competitor couldn't complete the four laps on foot.
