sherconoob
hehe, i'm wondering if any older guys will get up in arms about that bit! alan did an incredible job of narrating that vid. basically i just shoved the gopro in his face at the end of a day's riding and said can you say a few things about trials riding for me to shove into a promotional vid for the usa clubs? and off he went. pretty impressive ad libbing! mags, how did i miss the fact you are actually a brisbanite? i thoroughly agree that port area would make a great trials playground. i'm bang in the middle of brissie so it's between 60 to 90 mins drive to all the various private properties or club properties. it would be brilliant to just pop down to near the mouth of the brisbane river hey? i think though it would wind up like queensland moto park... $42.50 entry fee each day to cover insurance and all the bureaucracy they'd insist on. btw i'm uploading an australian version of that intro vid. it will be live in about 40 mins time.
mags
We pretty well exclusively ride Gap Creek Farmstay property. Beautiful trials country! Check it out if you have not been there. 750 acres, $25 per bike per day, not per person. Much closer to you than us! We are outer northside. Yeah, moto park is a pile of dung! I have never been there on principal. When we first got the first trials bike in Jan (14) I rang motopark and they wanted $90 for both of us to ride the one bike for one day! We had to be charged extra because we did not live in the council shire motopark is in???? WTF! Talk about discrimination! We hit Gap Creek 2 to 3 Sundays a month.... down from 4, hehehehehehe! 140 k's from front door unfortunately so 280k for a trials ride. My plan or more correctly my idea for Fishermans would be... Land is donated by whatever level of gov owns it. Even a 2-3 yr lease as a start. Land is fenced and gated. Trials Practice Club of Qld is formed and Inc. No formal comps. Liability Insurance is sourced and divided amongst members as an annual fee. There are no other fees? There is zero charge to ride there. No bike other than trials are allowed. Hours are 9am til dark Sat, Sun. No other days... lower insurance. Maybe school hols extended days. Needs 100 people to pay $50-$100 per annum minimum to get ins cover. As membership rises ins fees divided. Hume pipe seconds are sourced? Second hand boulders?? Hehehehe Concrete slab spoil. Include local member and get their pic in paper... and to open it! I can dream can't I???? Mags Edited July 18, 2014 by mags
sherconoob
mags, i wonder if it could work? you've obviously put a bit of thought into it. i know getting govt bureaucrats pushed into anything new takes a huge amount of effort, often for little chance of success. but it does sound very interesting! EDIT: i've sent an email to motorcycling qld to see if they have any tips on this idea. also, the brisbane motorcycle club over at nudgee have a motocross track there. a mate of mine races vintage mx out there so i'm going to get him to sound them out on the idea of having a trials practice area out there as well. it would be awesome to have an area like this in the suburbs. sherconoob
hey flint by the sounds of it you got your first trials bike recently? welcome to the asylum! most forums nowadays save bandwidth by not allowing attachment of pics, i assume it's the same here. you can use hosting services to put your pics up then just cut and paste the link in. i'm using photobucket but there are heaps around to choose from. flint45
Yes. I was able to post pics before without a hosting site but they will not go now. I assume something has changed in the last few weeks? Anyway love your videos and trying to do my part to show folks how fun a trials bike can be without needing a 100 acres plus to ride in.
pat_56
great pics, mags. yes i was definitely knocking the cruisers and harleys but definitely tongue in cheek as i was just having a go at mates of mine who ride them. i didn't know the video would get so many hits so i better put another disclaimer in before some hells angels come visiting about my harley references, hehe! i reckon anyone on two wheels has found their own little slice of heaven, whether it's a scooter, cruiser, harley or a trials bike (with the exception of bultacos of course). Is that your voice on this video?
sherconoob
yep. until we get a rich fellow trials rider to fund a voice over specialist, or a girlfriend to do a sexy voice, everyone is stuck with me droning on.
pat_56
Well I like the voice just fine! I started watching your videos before I joined this forum or bought a trials bike and played them to my son to interest him in the trials style. Your sort of like the Jeremy Clarkson of off road motorcycles, only not like him, but not totally unlike, sort of like - only different. I would definitely find the videos less entertaining without your voice. Unless maybe it was Jeremy Clarkson voice of course, he's awesome.

mags
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Waz up yo mo fo! Hehehehehe You're a funny oqhbj, Barry!! Hehehehe (hint - move letters one forward in the alphabet to decipher the word oqhbj) Can anyone say Freestyle Stunt Clinic 10 times fast... Hehehehehehehe Was that a bultaco with training wheels? pat_56
just a mish mash of our existing video footage designed to get dirt riders interested in trials. Whatever the formula, the filming and editing are very nice and the advise is interestingly presented. Except for the vulgar American accent, although it was interesting to hear what another Continent's impression of an American accent sounds like we've already got that here just south of our border. Besides, it seems to unsettle my cat.
sherconoob
your poor cat! couldn't help laughing but it is probably great payback for all the awful paul hogan imitations we get, and references to shrimps being thrown on to bbq plates. :-)
pat_56
Good point on the Paul Hogan payback thing, took my best shot at that on a skit once at a local community / family function, perhaps we all stick to our own unique vernacular, nothing like an original. Good fun though. I have been emailing a fellow who lives in New Zealand off and on for over 15 years. I would love to hear his voice, it would be very interesting. I didn't do so well with the shrimp on the barby though, they kept falling through the grill. Had the same problem when I tried to bbq french fries! I'm from eastern Canada, eh? Here's one of my youtube clips where I challenged others to demonstrate the strength of a plastic weld on motorcycle ABS plastic. I repaired my Ninja with a plastic welder ~6 years ago and all repairs have held out. I have some more clips posted under rheniformer, even a real oldie of me on stage with an airplane hat telling a joke, audio quality is very poor on that one. I'ts not the Paul Hogan one though, that little "gem" was not captured that I know of. I think someone tried but the camera rejected it.
