Rev 4 Starting Technique Problems

On my, new to me, REV 4 starting isn't the easiest and I've found the following things -

From cold is sometimes doesn't need choke, sometimes does, if choke on then no throttle, if no choke, likes a small throttle opening and slow progressive kick

When its hot it generally prefers a little bit of throttle opening (as opposed to what I've read which is no throttle at all), but if it doesn't catch after the first couple of kicks then usually its a case of no throttle.

Haven't tried the hot start button, cause I keep buring my hands

Carb has been cleaned and the correct std 127.5 main jet put back in, didn't change the pilot jet as they didn't have any and can't read the numbers on it at present, air screw is 3 turns out, new air filter, new spark plug - haven't checked the valves.

Once running, ticks over nicely, revs through cleanly and no problems with it - only starting it.Its very different going from a left hand kicker 2 stroke where you need a healthy shove through the kicker to right hand side with a long leisurely stroke (that sounds

wrong! lol)

Any advice peeps?

Sold my Rev4 about a year ago and never really mastered cold starting it either but I found that if, after 3-4 kicks on full choke, it didn't fire, choke off and full throttle and it ALWAYS did! Just be ready to shut the throttle as soon as it fires or you're revving a stone cold engine far too hard.

If it's running fine once it's started, there's almost certainly nothing wrong with it.

Mine was a very early 07 bike with a hot start lever on the 'bars but I never used that either! Never needed to.
