monkey27
Hi all, what is the best way to bleed the rear brake on the gasgas? I replaced the rubber hose that goes from master cylinder to fluid pot as it was split but now can't get the brake to bleed no matter how vigourously i pump the pedal! I've bought a syringe off ebay that should be here tomorrow, hopefully that's the answer
0007
Question has been asked a dozen times If the master won't pump it's because it has a bubble and it cannot pump air First bleed master, finger over the banjo bolt hole Then bleed hose, pinch caliper end in fingers Then bleed caliper with the piston pressed all the way in Burp the banjo bolts along the way while bleeding
eviljim
If it was anything like my beta then you are in for game... However I think my problem was in the calliper. The problem you have is there is probably air stuck in the master cylinder. The way they are routed (on old beta anyway) there are loads of places to get air trapped. So much simpler of my gas gas ec. What 007 said is good advice, I did it, on his advice I think, but it's very messy. First I would try back bleeding maybe take the master cylinder off to turn it round you may be lucky, oh and use a rod to push the cylinder when you are doing the traditional bleeding it will give you more travel. guys
I would try back bleeding with the syringe first. Put some teflon tape on the treads of the bleeding nipple. Try to position the master cylinder so there's the least possible chance air gets trapped. Edited August 10, 2014 by guys
monkey27
Cheers for the advice, i'll have a crack at it later on, the syringe is hear now too
richt
If the hose from the fluid pot enters the master cylinder at the bottom, I remove master cylinder from the frame and invert it, then bleed it both ways with a syringe. You can pull out the fluid pot and connect your syringe to the rubber hose. be care full not to let air back in when refitting the fluid pot. It's a ***** job. Method and patience is the best tool. Good luck
biffsgasgas
I have had to hang my bike like a dead cow with the front tire up to bleed the master at its banjo bolt. Having some one hold the bike vertical helps. --Biff
dadof2
I would combine #4 and #7, Hang the bike up or put the front wheel on a bench then back flush with a syringe.
