magwa
Hello, As a recycled teenager at 59yrs I have plunged back into trials bike ownership after 20yrs away. My last bikes were 1967 Bultaco Sherpa (DLG 49F I wonder if it still exists?),1974 Bultaco 350 Sherpa ( on a Q plate) and a Yamaha TY175 special ( ex Steve Goode from Welshpool) So Yesterday I purchased off EBAY a VERY nice 1976 Malcom Rathmell 348 Replica with lots of recent restoration work. I need to get a speedo ( already ordered) a rear reflector a rear number plate & a horn & get her registered (in due course)................... That will give me a few jobs to do over the next few weeks I have local clubs so will be joining in the near future BUT must be careful as after serious shoulder injury 20yrs ago ( the reason I quit) I do not want to be back in surgery again. So gentle "Grey Beards" trials will suit me (or even a bit of Marshalling!) lol Magwa

petert
Just think, I threw everything you want away when I cleared out my parent's house. It was all brand new too, as I took if straight off mine when I got it new. Doesn'thelp I know but just goes to show that you should never chuck anything away. Now where is that Lotus Cortina I used to have? Edited August 23, 2014 by petert

magwa
Thanks At present I'm on E bay and various forums sourcing the "missing" bits So far so good But as its Bank Holiday weekend I'm going to have a little "play" with the bike today ( private land) and see how easy it is to fall off after 20yrs away ! Then I have to get a dating letter so I can register the bike ( Jim Sandifords ??) unless anybody can point me in the right direction Cheers Magwa
2stroke4stroke
I would be very surprised if your bike had not originally been registered as most people still required a bike to be road usable then as all the good trials still used roadwork. Worth a try at DVLA with the frame number perhaps?
magwa
Well DVLA ( not registered) Jim Sandifords used to do dating letters ( Importers) BUT can no longer do letters as due to "BOLOTICs! between Honda ( who own Montesa)& Sandifords. So the importer with all the details cannot issue dating letters on bikes they supplied ???? So whatever the new "Q" plate is is the only way to register the bike Unless somebody here can point me in the right direction ? johnnyboxer
Try a classic VMCC type club or maybe In Motion, they might know a Spanish contact who could date it from the VIN
magwa
Try a classic VMCC type club or maybe In Motion, they might know a Spanish contact who could date it from the VIN Cheers Yes I am a member of VMCC ( since 1980) Any dating certificate has to be acceptable to DVLA......... Or anybody could just type their own up A work in progress Anyway I have now sourced a full lighting kit and all the wiring loom ( new old stock) off a different model but it will adapt and it comes with a speedo and cable So I have two speedo's now !! I'll update the thread as progress is made
