blackpoolsherco
Iv just got some carbon effect guards for my bike, when fitting the clutch case saver I had trouble getting the o ring gasket to stay in its recess so I smeared gasket paste over it! is this ok to do so? also when tightening the bolts back up they don't really appear to become tight? I did finger tight then quarter of a turn but they still don't seem tight? please help!!!!!!!!!
copemech
Hopefully you did not use some thick gasket paste, as normally I would simply use a bit of wheel bearing grease in the groove to hold the o-ring while positioning the cover. Normally the ring will compress a bit, then you feel the screws tension up and just a tad more is all you need, yet now you may have some compressability of the plastic cover as well yet you do not want to crush the plastic, so as long as there is tension on the screws and it does not leak you should be ok. blackpoolsherco
yes I used some thick black gasket paste, couldn't think of another way to keep o ring in place!! is this a problem? surely as long as o ring is in there then the paste can only make a better seal can it not?
