trailie
I was thinking about buying new shocks sometime as these old ones are done. I don't know where I got them from but they measure 355mm between centres. I see that most of the Betor shocks come in either 340 or 360 mm lengths. So what do you think is most suitable for a 250cc model 80. I quite fancy the aluminium body ones but just wondered what length would be best, if it makes much difference at all? http://www.ralphsbultaco.blogspot.co.uk/
woody
360 will work ok on the M80 Standard length was 350mm so for the same damping and spring rate, the 360 will lift the rear slightly with the rider on board which in turn decreases head angle and quickens the steering - in reality, barely, if at all noticeable. The Betor shocks don't have aluminium bodies, the main body is steel. Alloy parts are top mount, collar and spring adjuster Falcons are available for about the same price and he will build them to whichever length you ask for. trailie
Thanks, I probably will go for the 360mm ones. I didn't know the alloy betors had steel bodies, that's good to know.
wobbler
It's personal preference sadly - I know woody's a falcon man - nut I'm a rock shocks man. Sadly you need to make a choice and stick with it - or have some mates whose bikes you can try !!! Cheers As always The Wobbler
