bigmark1972 Posted September 25, 2014 Report Share Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) Great day today took delivery of my OSSA 2013 factory Bike has the latest capacitor easy start system installed and fired up on the 3rd kick out of the shipping crate. I got to spend about 2 1/2 hours on the bike today and so far I am liking it lots. First impression is that it is very different power and overall tighter feel than I am used to with my 2004 Sherco 2.9. It's power is very crisp and snappy yet rock steady and solid way down low. I find it much easier to control lofting the front end around and it's easier to hop over logs or anything else than with the Sherco due to the near instant throttle response. Like the no fuel petcock, no choke just fire it up and ride off very cool. One thing I noticed is this bike does not smoke... not at all, kinda cool but creepy in a way after being so used to the smokers in my past. Clutch has a much nicer feeling IMO it's easier to feather and less off/on than my Sherco. Brakes feel much better overall on the OSSA big difference in front brake power. I had new pads on the Sherco but was still difficult to do stoppies with one finger, no issue at all on the OSSA. In figure eights turning radius seems a little tighter than my Sherco but not by much. The build quality and fit and finish appear to be excellent, she sure is a sexy bike. I love the way it sounds with the carbon exhaust, until the fan turns on and she sounds like a 7k vacuum cleaner lol Its a very loud fan. I did put 2" risers on the bars, it feels much better with them than without, no issues with the cables. So so far so good, the bike runs like a top, no starting issues things are looking good. Hope to get a few more hours on it before taking it to a 2 day trials meet this weekend. Oh one minor gripe.. you can't seem to tell how much fuel is in the tank so no idea if you are about to run out or not. a sight window might have been a nice touch. topcat Posted September 25, 2014 Report Share Posted September 25, 2014 I had one of the very first 2011 models and made a type of fuel gauge using an angled union in to the tank drain and then some clear pipe running up the frame marking the tube with 1 litre increments seemed to work I think 2014 models have a low fuel warning light? I will look into that as it would be helpful. Glad to see I am not the only one who does not like to run out of fuel. What risers did you use? This model specifically... gav72 Posted September 25, 2014 Report Share Posted September 25, 2014 Bikes a cracker mark, like the black n white decals. My 2012 ossa has the low level fuel sensor on it, beside the throttle body. Not 100% on this but i think they are thermistor type sensor, works something along the lines of sensing the temperature difference between being immersed in fuel (keeping it cool) or exposed to the air allowing it to heat up and somehow create a circuit but don’t quote me on this I'm no expert. Anyway there is a bunch of mini connectors at the head stock for the display (ossa use the trail tech vapor) the connector your after is there though i can’t remember of the top of my head the wire colours, I'll check mine first chance i get and update this. It's OK I am ready for it My goal for this meet is to finish with my scorecard. I do however expect to move up this week from the lowest portion of the novice class to the near lowest position of the novice class.
