alexdean22
Hello, I have recently purchased a Montesa 315r from 2002, the man i bought it off said that he had recently fitted a 'new heavy duty clutch' to the bike. At his farm i rode the bike and all seemed fine, the bike changed gear and ran fine. A day after buying the bike, for my first ride, i started it up and as soon as i clicked into first gear it springs forward and stalls, as if the clutch was not engaged. I have tried bleeding the clutch and tightening the clutch lever but it now feels as if there is no feed back on the clutch at all. Does anyone know what is wrong and if so how would you go about fixing it. Please ask questions if anything is unclear.. Thanks Alex
zerorev3rev4
You now need to bleed it properly then restart put into 1st whilst pushing it forwards go up through gears with clutch in rear brake on and off untill it clears or rock back n forth in 5th gear engine off clutch in untill it comes free
martyb
Hi ive got the same bike and I first let the bike warm up well then point the bike away from any persons or anything of value and push it fwd and engage 1st gear. Ride the bike and go up and down the box a few times this seems to free things up. Use the Elf oil as the manual suggests as it really helps.
bulto58
Hi, yes it sound's like clutch drag. my Sherco did it all the time, no mater how clean, or light the oil was. Try rocking the bike in 4th or 5th gear before you start it when cold, and do as martyb said, once it's warmed up it's ok.
lbhbul
There is a simple although a little time is involved fix. I have had good luck on Scorpa, Beta, Sherco ect. Remove clutch plates, cleanup so they are not so slick. Using a thread file ( tool supply, Ebay) & I prefer 10 pitch using 3 strokes per friction pad (don't go through matl) You are making radial grooves to expel the oil to break the surface tension. This works, however any clutch should be broken loose after setting as per above, above all one should make sure there is a clear way ahead at all times! Working the clutch lever several times @ warm up is recommended. Larry Just checked Ebay they are the 4 sided (multiple pitches) kind.
