andyjohnson_10850 Posted December 4, 2014 Report Share Posted December 4, 2014 I always remove pads , wire brush all over , spray with brake cleaner , blow off with air line , spray brake cleaner all over disc wipe with clean cloth , refitt caliper job done ! On a trials bike If it does not crack the disc it will eventually warp it if done many times and done really hot. I guess it is all relative to how hot you get the disk. The heat draws out the oil and grease from the pad and disc. Best way I saw a guy clean his brakes was he got them hot and then sprayed the crap out of disc and pad using brake cleaner and then poured corn starch all over them and let them sit for a while. The corn starch drew out oil grease and crap. How do the discs know that the cold liquid is brake cleaner and not water? I've sprayed water from a hand plant sprayer on the same discs for ten years and had no problems. But they are not glowing red when I do so admittedly.
