the dabster
Evening all, Fitting an uprated spring to the forks on my 2014 gas gas (10% stiffer) and wondering if the fork caps just unscrew straight out (slackened them right back but they appear reluctant to pull out to give access to the internal spring) and if there is a particular leg to use - instructions say first stage stiffer one spring or over 95kgs fit both uprated springs. Any advice would be much appreciated.
baldilocks
Id take the left cap out first as this leg has compression damping adjuster. The cap does just unscrew on both sides.
sir dabs alot
Same problem here. The right leg has a keeper nut that can be unscrewed but the left leg does not. The left leg has a set screw in the threads of the top cap which I removed but still no luck removing the left top cap with the set screw completely removed. Also, the oil level seems to be 160 mm of air space compressed with the springs removed. Anyone know how many cc that is?
lineaway
Are you sure that you don`t need to pull the spring down as the cap threads on the rod.

Have never removed so called set screw before and am wondering if I should in the future on a new fork.
fastbelly
Something to note. If you doing the swap with the forks in the bike then make sure the top tripple clamp bolts are slack or it can stop the fork cap undoing.

Have taken two pairs of forks apart in the past and have not messed with (9&10), just wondering if I am doing something wrong.
