iconic558
Can anyone help with a replacement front brake arm (Marzocchi front end) as mine has 'rounded off' the square edges and now has so much slack I can't operate the front brake without resulting to a 'workaround''? I may try and weld up and refinnish the arm but a replacement would be a quicker and more elegant solution. I wonder if Fantic arms fit, those fitted with Grimeca hubs? many thanks Edited December 2, 2014 by iconic558
b40rt
Not normally a problem so should be plenty about, Martin M's your man.
iconic558
Solved! I knew Martin didn't have any but having checked again (and double checking my memory!) he kindly put me onto 'Mr Fantic Tom' who has some new old stock, £25 each..
twinshock giles
Slightly off topic but has anybody else found the original front brake torque arm would buckle if you locked the front brake going backwards? Or was mine just passed its best?
pschrauber
You are not the only one that had this issue, this happened to mine too while riding in the mountains: I replaced the steel arm against the aluminium unit from the 81 model, (btw. even the front forks, (but left the yokes, just if you wonder ...): Much stiffer then this bendy steel plate ... twinshock giles
Glad its not just me then! I made a new one from a lot thicker steel, your solution is considerably more elegant...
reginald
My 82 has the brake arm out to the front and I don't believe it works as well as this design with the arm at 90 degrees to diameter across the cam and pivot as in the one pictured above. Anybody tried this mod on a latter model and did it help? Cheers Mark

reginald
No Mate, and on closer inspection found that the repaired one was even further away from the 90 degrees - that at least solved almost no brakes on the 125 but I still wonder if the 1980 design is better. reginald
Hi Mark, has the arm also been cut and angled lower, so it's at right angles to the cable ? Does that mean you need a different front brake cable ie longer?
b40rt
Fraid so, might get away with shortening the outer.
reginald
we shortened the outer and rewelded the arm to be closer to 90 feels better already.
