Hi, this had probably been talked about to death but I am fairly new to trials and was just wondering people's thoughts on bi passing the thermostat and running a fan continuosly ?

Other than wearing a fan out now and again is anything else likely to go wrong ?

Good or bad idea ?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks for looking :)

Yeah totally agree with te engine not making the best running temp .

Was just thinking at it from a fail safe point I view really .

Just goin through the whole " does my fan kick in " thing on my sherco I have rescently bought . Fan works but after running it up idle for 8 mins it doesn't kick in ...!? Been out on it a few times with no overheating issues . Gonna test the stat this wk end

If you run the bike just at idle at this time of year the fan wont cut it and thats normal. When doing the ssdt i always did two mods related to this issue.

1 put a switch into the circuit to the stat so you can easily bypass it should it fail.

2 if the bike has a pressure cap fit a longer hose and route it so that if coolant leaks it will drop onto the front pipe and you will notice.

Since watercooled bikes came in i have only ever had one stat fail, that was on a scorpa sy250.
