Spent way too much time trying to learn techniques on my mx bike that just weren't possible without good suspension setup. I know I could do a lot on a crappy setup but if I have my choice I would have a good setup from the start. My shock is the non-adjustable olle that comes stock on the Eco model. That and it's in bad shape, and has the wrong spring for my weight. It's my understanding they are not rebuildable as well. So buy another low spec replacement.. Or upgrade. Probably better and cheaper would be an Ohlins Shock. My Son used to run Gas Gas and found the Ohlins much better. My 2010 Beta Evo feels like it's sprung in the rear for a youth and something is not right in the front (maybe old oil) so I'm slowly working it all out. I think next time I'm at a trial I'll give my bike to one of the A/B graders and ask them to do a few hops and see what they think, if they can do all the tricks without complaints I'll just put up with it. Haven't priced the ohlins yet. All usd. My thought is I can pull it when I sell the bike and sell it separately to get some money back on it. So a bit more digging on the Reiger.. Looks like there are two versions.. One with rebound adjustment only and one with compression and some other advanced stuff. I believe the prices above are for the basic version that came stock on the race models. This has definitely been a learning process. Parts for these things are so much more than for a relative compared part for mx bikes. It just doesn't make sense to try to maintain em. Glenn I have to agree with this. As long as your shock is not blown and your not way to heavy, ride with what you got. For months I rode my 07 GG with 1995 forks and I didn't ride any worse. MX guys tend to be obsessive about suspension. It's not as important with trials unless you are at a very high level. If you read through my second post you will see that the shock is in fact shot, and I am too heavy for it at near 200lbs geared up. I'm leaning towards the used Reiger. I'm leaning towards the used Reiger becuase I think I can get it for 5 or 600 us. That's cheaper than the ohlins and as stated I'm a beginner so won't know the difference if it's not the raga model. Once again my olle shock is shot and I need a replacement. Your input is very much appreciated. I don't mind spending a bit of extra money to upgrade but just want to make sure what I'm doing makes sense. Options 1) cheapest Olle non adjustable - $300 2) adjustable Olle - $400 3) Sachs - can't find a price 4) Ohlins with single adjuster - $850 5) TRP - $850 6) new Reiger with single adjuster - a bit over $1000 7) used Reiger for about $500 but I would need a new spring $160 to compensate for my old style linkage. What do you guys think? Is it possible to buy a new set of dog bones to change to the new linkage? If it's around $160 would offset the cost of a new spring. Not sure if the swing arm is compatible.
