breagh
Like it,piston in the wrong way round, certainly wouldn't need that extra base gasket to take the edge of it. I've done worse!
ric h
Sure glad i caught it.It'll take ten minutes to pop the cylinder off and turn the piston around.I'd have it done already, but it's -25c outside and my garage takes a couple of hours to heat up. dadof2
That -25 temp made me think back to the original bore / piston damage. Could the bike have been cold seized at some time? A cold seize usually occurs when the bike is worked hard (even very briefly) immediately after the bike is started in cold weather. The piston heats up fast and expands before the barrel has time to warm and expand. In some cases the effect is that the inside of the barrel expands inwards unevenly as it warms because it is constrained by the still cool outer barrel. I have known this to occur even at UK winter temps of about 5 to 6c so I would think it could easily happen at your much colder temperatures. ric h
New plastics and stickers together.Used plastic bolts for the rear fender (trimmed the bolts with sidecutters). The airbox cover was unavailable in Canada,so it came from Zonetrial in Belgium in 5 days! Piston is in (the right way round).New cylinder head o-rings were not available so i reused the old ones.Lapped the head on a heavy piece of plate glass. Just waiting for the frame etc to come back from powdercoat. And i'll need to reuse the heatshield under the seat or find some new material. Soon. ric h
Gas tank stickers and the airbox pad while i can still flip it around with the heat gun smoothing them out.https://www.facebook.com/johnny.p.332'spowdercoat is awesome! The footpeg pivot screws and shafts were assembled with waaaaay too much loctite at the factory.I had to wire wheel the screws and chase the pivots with a tap. If the fuel system were a little smaller, maybe the gas tank would hold more than 3 liters. Lockwired the fuel line connectors.I'm NOT pulling the motor to reconnect a goofy fitting. Progress! Motor, airbox and wiring is in.

ric h
All done. That was a project! It runs great.I can tell there is a new piston and cylinder in there for sure. The extra base gasket makes a little bit of a difference in the force needed to kick it thru.Just what i wanted. Powdercoat by my friend JohnnyP is second to none. Stickers by Trackside Cuts of London Ontario. Fork guards by the SplatShop. S3 Rim Transformers from RYP.
