burns1989
Hi all iv got a 06 beta rev 3 250 . I know how to set sag on mx bikes but how do I do it for a trials bike as a mx bike its needs 104 mm sag ish . But on a trials bike what is the set limits and at 15 stone do I need heavy springs fitted as well .
paul w
strictly speaking yes ,you should fit a stronger rear spring but dont worry, set static to 5mm and ride it , one thing though , I would change then fork oil and set the levels as per the spec for your bike on http://www.beta-uk.com/images/stories/spares-pdfs/2006/rev3_2t_06_250-270cc_engine.pdf
0007
I wouldn't get caught up in sag on a trials bike, it's not the same
axulsuv
Basic rule ... Set bike on ground . measure static travel . Have a buddy support you on bike and another measure travel . Get suspension travel specs for your bike , You want to set up preload so your weight uses about 1/3 of total travel ... Then play with dampening adjustments and oil weight from there . But start with how the bike is STOCK ! you don't weigh that much ... and we all want different from our bikes ..... Take your time , learn the bike at stock settings , and then play with the adjustments , unless the suspension is screwed up already , stock will work fine until you can use/feel the minor adjustments available to you ... Glenn ; Enjoy the ride ... Edited December 29, 2014 by axulsuv
lineaway
The Beta owners manual has the starting points for your weight. The front forks spring preload (left) should be ten turns in. They leave the rear to your choice. The earlier Revs had the rear spring compression. Seems it was 105mm, but that was long time ago for my brain. Good luck.
