Starting Trial Riding

I ride a 200 beta, you have to rev it more than the bigger bikes to get over things and use the gears differently. You can't go wrong with a 250. I've heard from a few sources Shercos are good from 2011 onwards. Can't really go wrong with a beta either, avoid the first years of a line of models though. All the modern bikes are pretty good, you'll have to try out a few different ones to find out what suits you. The Montesa 4rt and the old school 315r bikes get good reports. Though the 4rt doesn't suit everybody.

Hi, I have a motocross back ground and after a long gap from off road to road riding bought myself a 2004 290 sherco. Didn't really know much about trials bikes so didn't know a bad bike from a good one. As it happens had that bike for eight years and can honestly say it was a very reliable bike with a bullet proof engine. Sold it recently and bought another sherco. I guess all trials bikes will have some faults so when buying second hand it can be a bit of a lottery. As the power delivery goes I found it ok, and it wasn't intimidating (fitting slow action throttle helped) but I can only really speak from my experiance.

Hope this helps.
