magicmat
Hi, Im trying to find info on the standard settings for the mixture Screw. Had some problems with the bike starting and running, which turned out to be a dirty carb but now the bike struggles to start from cold, and i think its the mixture screw. Im trying to find how many turns out it should have, but im really struggling to find anything. Does anyone know, or can give me basic advise how to set it up? Thanks
rms2
I had to find this info recently too. I'm on a 2000 2.9 Jarvis replica but I believe the carb is the same - the Delorto PHBL26BS. Check the table here, it lists all the basic settings; http://www.sherco.com/tl_files/core/pdf/manuels/2003ServiceManual.pdf There is also a ton of good info here under the "Service Info" tab on the right; http://www.shercousa.com/ Looks like on the 125 initial settings should be Mix screw 4 turns out, and I started with the Idle screw at 4 turns out as well. Mine fired right up after the carb cleaning and I only had to turn the idle screw in a little to make it run perfectly. Good luck with it! magicmat
Thanks, the big picture with info doesnt list the number of turns, but i found it on that service tab ! I'll give it a try and go from there, thanks CarburetorThe factory has equipped the carburetor with 30 & 33 pilot jets along with 124 & 126 main jets. For sea level in North America we suggest that you start with a 36 pilot and a 118 main jet. Altitude, temperature and humidity can have an effect on carburetion. Check with your local dealer for what works best in your area. The float level should be set at 18.5 mm, the gas screw should be set at around 4 turns out, this will have to be adjusted for the individual operating conditions. (Turning the screw out, counterclockwise richens the idle/slow speed mixture).
zerorev3rev4
try at 6 turns out just to see if it cures the problem then see how it runs if it seems a bit spluttery low down turn in untill its smoother adjust when warmed up and try each setting by riding not just sat still if its rich it will feel as if the choke is on slightly ,,,, when it does start does turning choke on make a difference ie is the choke working , the slow jet is very small and easily blocked so a fuel filter is a must, removing fuel tap and cleaning filter on the tap might also help and a tank flush to remove and crap floating about inside
copemech
Beyond about four turns adjustment is near futile it seems to me, and I do not like going THAT far. Your spring will lose tension and screw will fall out! Take the screw out and look at the actual needle taper on the end of it. What is it, 3mm long possibly? That is your range of effective adjustment. Beyond that it is doing nothing. And quite frankly, if I am running that far out for decent running, I will go up a bit on the pilot jet to bring things a bit more in range. With todays fuel, a 36 may not suffice, I run a 38 in mine.
