Gas Gas Future?

I never thought of the links identified by Jonnyboxer when I posted this but in fact some of the best trials land in Northern Centre is courtesy of farmers who have significant investment in dairy production.

My reason for posting dairy issue was just as an example of how unpredictable business can be and still go wrong even with the best advice available.

It's true, like you say & with no farmers Britain would in a dire state, especially no dairy farmers in the west of UK

Trials would also be adversely affected, great tranches of land lost

Farmers support active sports, in the countryside & a lot of farmers participate in either

Hunting (with horses)

Shooting

Trials

MotoX

Enduro

Rallying

It's what they like to do, in their spare time, either participating, watching, helping, marshalling or letting us.... use their land

I have some friends going to southern Spain in next couple of weeks, they are not into motorbikes but they may hear something. I am in that area in a few weeks time. No present plans to go to Girona but if I come across any bike shops I will pop in and see if there is any gossip, though my Spanish is pretty limited.

This isn't the first time this has happened to a "Big" manufacturer of trials bikes. It might be my memory but as a kid but back in the 80's almost everything was a TY or a Fantic. Fantic also had other revenues with road bikes and mopeds, didn't stop them getting in trouble. Montesa only survived as long as they did by virtue of being owned by Honda. I'm sure with a bit of thought you could list lots more.

Manufacturing for a specialist market is always going to be difficult and being one of the big fish in a very small pond is no protection.

I wish Gas Gas all the best and hope they turn things around but I would be surprised if they do. Sad to say but give it another 10-20 years and I'm sure we will having the same conversation about another big company!

Ayudar a mi tanque de aire está casi vacío

Might be more useful

Since this topic is meant to be about cash shortage, I will repeat a joke I head a short while ago.

Ed Milliband comes across a Romanian beggar woman sat on the pavement, he says "I suppose you would like some change" She replies "just the leader of the Labour party"

I am very happy to see Raga win, A great bloke who seems to stay positive despite having been second to Bou so many times.

I did not say Pro's were no good, I actually said they had many of the qualities that made the Honda CR500 a great bike, The problem the Pros have is they are just too lightly built in a few key areas to give long term reliability. That means quite a number of riders including myself will not buy them.
