toshy
Ok so as per my last post my 2002 sy 250. Has some strange habits. It runaway revs as it's running out of gas. Which is a problem as it seems to use more than double what my riding companions use. I carry 2 L extra and still have to go home early and there all on there first tank! I have replaced the needle and needle jet, full carb clean checked float height, stock needle on the top notch. and it doesn't seem to be leaking any gas. It doesn't seem to run as smooth as other bikes but I hear that is typical of these motors. Any suggestions?
steve_earle
Runaway revs point towards an air leak on the inlet side or flywheel side crank seal, That would make the bike use more fuel also but not that much.
toshy
I just pulled the reeds and one was chipped about 1mm from the end and they weren't sitting flat. I will flip them but I will need some new ones. Are they hard to get? Can the flywheel crank seal be replaced from the out side or do I have to split the motor?
