I can give you pointers but most OSET suitable Trials are a bit further north. Bradford are running a Novice Beginners on the 21st March close to Harden Moor. Good to go to as a number of OSET riders tend to pop along. West Leeds run at Post Hill and have a "dead Easy" course suitable for OSET's and that's on the 22nd. Barnsley are more in your area and are running a Round of their Beginners series at Hood Green on the 29th March. The Websites give details of Venues and how to find them. Also most have Facebook presences as well. If not the Calendar here on TC could be useful as most venues are signposted. Most of the Novice Beginners Series round here start to pick up In late March. Would you be OK for North Derbyshire? Maybe a few members of those clubs could give pointers to their Trials coming up.

There is a Yorkshire Calendar on the Trialsuk Website http://www.trialsuk.co.uk/blog that you can print or just peruse to see what's around. A few clubs run conducted Trials such as Yeadon Guiseley and Ripon and these are good starters as all the riders get to go around together. At 12 he might think he is a bit old though. Once you get "in" to the OSET and Junior scene you can an idea from the other parents as to where they go and indeed how to ride and maintain and tweak them. Most people in the sport are very "chatty". To join clubs is usually fairly cheap and the ACU card is only £10 which can be obtained online using a Club supplied code.

You might find you need to move up to Petrol power sooner rather than later but the OSET is not only a good starter bike, they hold their value and basically are under the radar of local NIMBY's allowing your lad to practice where he might not be able to on a Petrol Machine. Lastly BUMPY in Birstall is open every weekend for practice and Parkwood Off road at Tong opens once a month for Trials Practice as well. Both are useful practice areas and Dan Thorpe runs teaching sessions at BUMPY. It can be a bit Muddy but it does have a Jet wash available for a small fee.

Scunthorpe MCC run conducted trials for Osets/youngsters, usually with two routes to cater for different skill levels. Check their website or search for them on Facebook. The chap that runs them is Toyne Fox who has the local Oset dealership, Richtoy Motorsport in Winterton.

Lincoln MCC have a 'dead easy' route on each of their sections at all trials which may be suitable. You could ride each section off so you only had to do one lap, I'm sure this would be ok.

Both are very friendly clubs that would make you feel very welcome.
