dazzagreener
Hi I've been offered a fantic 241 and was wondering if I could convert it to a twin shock using a 240 swing arm and if I can is there anything else I would need from a 240 to covert it. Cheers

totalshell
i m thinking of car rallying i have a ford focus 4wd how can i make it into a 1975 ford escort, cheaply if possible Edited March 7, 2015 by totalshell
fastbelly
No need for that chaps. It's just a question. Personally I would not dream of trying to convert it, I love the 241s and am looking out for one. They will be the next Fantics to go up in value as the air cooled mono class pick up. Love it for what it is or sell it someone that will and then go get a twinnie if thats what you are after. Only my opinion.
axulsuv
i m thinking of car rallying i have a ford focus 4wd how can i make it into a 1975 ford escort, cheaply if possible Find a early Quatro and put escort emblems on it , Or a Renault alpine . Best and easiest would be to get that lancia stratos and gas it ...

dazzagreener
Bloody hell I was only asking if it was possible. Didn't know that this would hurt so many peoples feelings
axulsuv
Of course it is possible , but why ? the better option would be to find a 240 chassis that needs a motor and bolt the later engine into it ... Converting that mono to a twin would take a bit of well thought out welding and fab work , for not much benefit ... Make the bike work as it is and enjoy it , or get ready to spend alot of time and money on a bike that will never be finished .... No harm intended , their are just so many better things to do with any old Fantic . Why make it into something it's not , especially as they are getting slightly rare ???? dazzagreener
Ideal that's the answer I was looking for. So I'm going to keep looking for a fantic twin shock project. Iv seen a few tx250 can some tell me what's the difereance between theses and the 200 and 240s
bishyfishy
TX250 is a 125cc, FM350 is a 200cc and a FM450 is a 240 - actually only 212cc. Tons of Fantic info here on TrialsCentral. Also this site gives model info http://www.tytrials.wanadoo.co.uk/Fantic/Fantic%20Models.htm Two French sites; this one is in Engish http://fantic240pro.pagesperso-orange.fr/ukindex.htm and this one you may need to translate via google http://www.fanticmotor.asso.fr/r02.htm Edited March 12, 2015 by bishyfishy

Glenn but if i wont put a 241 engine in a 240 frame i have to modify the frame, correct ?
axulsuv
You may have to massage the lower frame rails for clearance , but if my memory works the basic mounting points are the same , may have to play with the back/swingarm pivot clamp mount . But I think it is a basically bolt in swap , and then set up a exhaust that performs correctly ... and a airbox inlet ... But I do know the reed valve motors fit , just takes some love .... fastbelly
My 240 has a 241 motor, the front mount plates were modified to lift the motor slightly to clear the frame. The exhaust had a slice removed and rejoined to take account of the mew motor position. Nice job, avoiding hacking the frame.
