rev3guy
Techno, some of the early Beta's had a problem with the gear on the starter shaft riding up an splitting the case. This was usually associated with a backfire which caused the motor to reverse and the gear to ride up. Part of the problem was traced to electronics and water getting into the system. Although many folks will say that the problem was licked by 1998, I did have the same problem on a 99 Techno 250. If you decide to fix you will need to replace both the cases since they are a matched set. Good luck and hope it goes well.
