I would like to buy the necessary parts before I take the bike apart.Is there an oil seal behind the kick start lever? I've had a look on inmotion and can't work out what I need.Also does the fantic 200 need seperate oil for the gear box and clutch or is it the same oil?And finally what Oil? Thanks in advance Sam There is no oil seal just an o ring on the shaft oil is all in one 1350cc 10/40w or light gear oil when you take it apart the shaft comes out with the cover, push the kickstart back to about footrest level then remove the stop bolt which is located underneath the motor usually a 16 or 17mm head. you then remove the cover complete with shaft, you reverse this on re-assembly Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
fantic200 Posted April 21, 2015 Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 Way to much oil......I use a good quality ATF like TOTAL, around 900-1000ml is required or the use of the "weep" hole on the casing gives the desired level. The oil lubricates both clutch and gear box, top cat is correct on the location of the oil seal which over time deteriorates. The casing can be removed with the shaft in-tact, carefully removing while applying pressure on the shaft end as not to dislodge the mechanism. replace the "o" ring and re-assemble. When I take the casing off, the kick start shaft will come off with it. Is anything likely to fall off or will the kick start return spring fly out?From experience with my Montesa it's useful to know what to expect, otherwise you have shims on the floor and springs flying off with no idea where they came from.
