steam
I have a corroded casing on my 2008 rev3 and water is entering gearbox.. Not sure if casing is aluminium or magnesium. Has anybody had success using Araldite or any other sealer to fill the corroded casing?
totalshell
araldite is your friend i ve certainly filled a water pump casing with one,, lasted about 18 months i ve also used it on an austin 7 engine water passage and its still good after 25 years.. for a proper job i d used liquid steel or a petrol tank sealant but any 2 pack resin product will do the trick
technowaldo
For the sake of £85 better buying a new casing and then you can forget about it. You will be gutted if it starts to leak and you dont notice it and it seizes on you a lot more than 85 quid for a top end build
djr
JB weld is another product you could try, but use the slow hardening version rather than the fast hardening one. {it is more heat resistant etc.} In my experience the slow hardening Araldite is better as well, you just have to be patient and leave overnight to harden. Having said all this if you can get a Casing for a good price that would be the best idea. good luck anyway.
