sherpa 350
Hi Guys, sobody knows which kind of sherpa petrol tanks is this? I found two: first in a 199 and other was in a 199a. It looks bigger than other that i see in the internet picture of Sherpa fiberglass tank; what worries me most is the hump near the tank cap!! is it possible that this is a Alpina fiberglass tank? thank in advance for the answers :-)
lbhbul
Well, I have never seen fiberglass tanks with the bottoms like older models, (flat), made for later models. that said the red tank looks OK, (don't know how wide) the blue is different and I didn't see anything like it in my search, if the seat fits it will be OK for use as long as the stops are long enough. I am sure you will find more help here. Welcome. Larry Edited May 28, 2015 by lbhbul
sherpa 350
thank you Larry for the help, I tested distance between the fixing screw hole and the seat end side; it is the same as the plastic tank... my problem is to know if it's a original Bultaco's Sherpa tank or if it's for other models or a replacement built here in Italy. It's because i never seen, live or in iternet pictures, a Sherpa tank with this hump between high front end and tank cap :-)
lbhbul
Only a guess on my part; replacement item as the early plastic tanks we have seen seemed to self destruct and were not as pleasing to the eye as was the glass tank IMHO. guys
The blue one seems to have a larger capacity. Maybe an after market long ride tank?
sherpa 350
The blue one seems to have a larger capacity. Maybe an after market long ride tank? .....this is just what I'm afraid, but none of the people I know remember there were tanks in fiberglass for aftermarket Sherpa here in Italy; I'll try again to ask to other people who might know!! If somebody here in the forum has a fiberglas tank in his sherpa 199 or 199A he would make me a big favor if you send me some photographs for comparison.. :-) Thank's in advance.... :-)
lbhbul
Maybe these will be of some use in your understanding of the difference in our part of the world as the only fiberglass tanks I personally have seen used, there may be others that have seen different tanks Notice shape of top, seat juncture, and bottom shape, this style of tank from M 158 thru M191 Sherpa T,they are about 8 1/2 inches at their widest point. Hope this helps Larry Edited May 29, 2015 by lbhbul
