jools
Hi, A mate of mine has a 4 month old '05 (UK bike), the bike has had light use, but he is having problems with it not reving out properly when he goes for big steps etc (revs like the bike is cold). he's tried jetting, adjusting the carb air screw, different oils, reeds, you name it. other than that its perfect and its a lovely bike. anyone any suggestions? has a Keihin carb conversion been done on a Scorpa? Thanks
charliechitlins
What color is the plug? If one doesn't solve the problem, move to the next: -- fresh plug and fresh gas and thoroughly cleaned carb and air filter. --Check for air leak at intake. --Play with the choke (enrichener)in small increments and see if the problem gets better or worse...to check jetting. jools
The plug is chocolaty brown colour, which is good. We did'nt think about an induction leek and yeah, its been run on Shell Optimax fuel. air filter, carb etc are spotless, there is not too much oil on the filter either . will check for induction leek though. would'nt the engine race if it was sucking in more air?? Thanks for the suggestion.
robee
Sounds like mine does when I go swimming with it. If water gets through the air filter and into the carb' it can still idle around but when it is asked to rev up a bit more it can suck the bubble of water in from the bowl. You said the carb was spotless so I figure this has been already checked.

And, you're right...an air leak can make the engine race, but not always. Did you check the condition of the sparkplug wire? It is possible for it to have a leak that only happens at high revs. Check all your wires, too. Don't forget the kill button.
