talbotvanman
I have purchased a 1980s Cota 200 There is only one drain plug ( on the gearbox side ) So do I take it the oil is common to the gearbox AND clutch/primary side ? I have seen various oils mentioned 10/20 10/40 etc but I have a supply of 5/30 would this be suitable The bike will have VERY light use as I will not be competing very much ! dadof2
I would try asking Sandifords (importer of Cota 200) or Nigel Birkett (Birkett Motorsport) I only ever had 348s which had separate primary and gear oil. couple of my friends had 200s but I can't remember what oils they used. You are very unlikely to do any harm with 5-30 even if it is not quit right grade. I would be more worried about not changing one of the oils if 2 should be used. talbotvanman
dadof2 Thanks for that info Just read elsewhere that the 172 ( similar engine ) also only uses one oil 10/30 recommended so yeh I think the 5/30 should be ok
