talbotvanman
Well it wasnt easy but there it is !!! Very original I would say although I do want to replace the levers. The red seat is something I havent seen before but is definately Montesa having the " M " embossment in the side. 29markt
How is the chain tensioner mounted? I have just acquired the original chain tubes to fit to mine, but prefer the look of the tensioner as you have fitted, nice original looking bike that is! Cheers. talbotvanman
Hi Mark Boots and helmet have arrived got ACU license so ready for my first ride Sunday ! Son and 7year old grandson are riding too. A three generation entry might be unusual do you think ? However I just posted to say I will check out the chain tensioner and post a photo if possible. Yes I have seen the chain tubes but not sure if my model was fitted with them. Cheers Laurie (talbotvanman is in memory of a camper van I used to own !! )
4stroke
They all had chain tubes from new. You may need to fit a chain guard to keep mud off your chain. Replacement tubes and brackets are available. Have fun!

lbhbul
SM offers a universal tensioner similar to the one shown, would require a tab to be welded to swing arm cross member. Larry

zerorev3rev4
hi it was bought as a non runner and was the early cota 200 a later frame came up ( with the engine guards and narrower top shock mounts ) already painted ready to go so i transferred the engine and other parts adding other parts which i had to build what you have today , the seat prob came from another bike i think its just the standard seat with a red leather cover been made ,, it was originaly for sale from Middlesbrough poss on gumtree or piston heads , then paul hanley from crook bought it he didnt get to do anything with it and i ended up with it ,rebuilt it and past it on to a neighbour which sold it to you so non of us actually used it , it did have a white frame with an extended swing arm all in all it made a fairly decent little bike
talbotvanman
Thanks for that interesting info of the bikes history As you say a decent bike that performs well certainly for what I will be doing with it ! Mainly keeping an eye on my seven year old grandson on his Oset while my son competes. Now Mark asked about the chain tensioner. I have " bin on me hols " so not had a chance to photo it but looks to be original as I cant see any obvious bracket welding. Perhaps you could comment on that ? Cheers and thanks again. PS Fell off and snapped the none original brake lever so fitted a matching Amal. LOL
zerorev3rev4
chain tensioner is prob from inmotion just a hole drilled through engine cradle and mounted from there ,, originals were mounted to lower engine casing but when chain comes off it breaks the casing
