renegade master Posted July 16, 2015 Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 Hi Guys, Tried out this gas gas tx 270 I got the last day, so I brought it to the hill for its frist spin after getting it a few days ago, and under heavy load (driving on steep part of hill for 10mins in 3rd gear) it cuts out, and if i try to start it, it backfires! so i leave it for 2mins and it starts fine take off and after driving up the steep part for another 10mins it cuts out again! leave it to cool or few mins and it fine! any ideas? i have only done a few basic things since i got the bike, oil change, carb strip, air filter check and cleaned out the tank and put my own fuel mix in. bike seems to be running fine otherwise! one thing I have spotted is the cooling fan is on from the moment it started, might try and sort that later. thanks again for your help guys Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

dadof2 Posted July 16, 2015 Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 As suggested check for spark, could be ignition HT coil failing. Dismantle the breather mechanism inside you filler cap, These can fall to pieces and stop air getting into tank. Clean carb including inlet filter and check float height. crazybond700 Posted July 16, 2015 Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 (edited) If the hole in it is blocked, the tank will vacuum, and it will stop running for some moment. I checked out the fuel vent and its not blocked, im mixing 80:1 i think! or very close on it, and ipone 2t, didnt get a chance to check plug yet! And was i 3rd gear 3/4's full throttle, and just died away! tryd kicking it stright away but it backfired! but then started fine after 2mins, maybe it as just blocked, as nearly every other trials bike iv ridding hard up a very steep hill for more then 10mns starts spluttering and exhaust end can goes on fire! on another note, is it good to pre mix your trials bike fuel and leave it in 20l durm and just use it when you need it? or does the 2t loose its kick? Certainly sounds like a lack of fuel flow if it starts after a couple of minutes, dodgy stator normally takes closer to 30 minutes for it to cool down enough for spark to return Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

lbhbul Posted July 18, 2015 Report Share Posted July 18, 2015 Look to a new NGKbp5es, or Iridium plug , also in one instance we had a 2003 Edition where the fan motor was against the plug terminal very heavy, bike would need a new plug in 4 hours almost to the minute, gained some clearance and no more problem.
