malcolm
Just fitted a new chain to my beta evo 125. It seems very loose even with the snail cams at their longest setting. Are chains sold at a standard length for the buyer to remove links as required or should I wait until the chain has stretched a little until I remove a link. What's the worst that can happen with a loose chain?
2stroke4stroke
Wrecked crankcases. Fit a half link. In the old days we did that when we could in order to keep the wheelbase as short as possible. dabba
The chain should be 100 links. Most trials chains are 102 links or more, so you'll probably need to remove links. The original Beta snail cams and the Apico ones will offer enough adjustment with 100 links, but the Jitsie ones don't allow the spindle to move forward enough for 100 links if you're using a rear sprocket over 42 teeth.. malcolm
Thanks for the advice. How tight should the chain be.
dabba
About 20mm (or a finger) from the top of the chain tensioner slipper pad to the underside of the swinging arm.
