mrtmartinp
Hi I'm rebuilding the motor in one of my pair of 200's with new con rod etc. As part of the rebuild I've stripped back the paint on the barrel and had a good look at it. There isn't anything special about this bike, just a bog standard 200 FM350, that's previously had a hard life. But, the barrel has had some smoothing round the carb end of the inlet port, and about a 2mm angle ground into the bottom of the exhaust port on the inside of the barrel. The top of the barrel is stamped x2 which looks properly done, but the side of it in a different font and point size is a C this looks very roughly done. Also properly done is an 8 randomly on the top fin of the barrel. I'm curious what it means, the x2 can't be an overbore,as it still has the chrome liner, and single ring Fantic piston. Maybe the 8 shows which mould pattern was used when it was cast. Have no idea about the C. I'm assuming this was likely a bit of a DIY job done back in the day, anyone know what it is or what if there were any benefits ?
