I just believe that EFI is an unnecessary complication whatever 2T off road bike it may be fitted to. Since air cooled rigid bikes with drum brakes progression has always been criticised by luddites as unnecessary complication, whatever you do or do not believe. dadof2 Posted September 8, 2015 Author Report Share Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) I may put more on the EFI vs carb or other threads but briefly: The problem of fuel leakage from or water ingress into a carb can be sorted easily and cheaply. EFI precise fuel metering? In theory yes with an oxygen sensor in the exhaust and steady running. In practice on a 2T probably no because the residual fuel / oil mix in the crankcase will override the fuelling settings on initial pick up and during varying throttle conditions typical of section riding. These electric bikes too.can't say I'm excited but if the wee boys Oset is anything to go by things will change. Now you no longer need to be some sore of home grown mechanic to keep things gong. Easier to learn on too by a mile. The hinges on the door of room 101 are being oiled ready to take in all these old petrol things! I assume all your "work" equipment is efi or electric ? Seems this supposedly reliable FI device has broken down. I am now sat twiddling my fingers at Carlisle. Should have taken my reliable carburettored road bike. PS last week I had to call the wife out to collect me with the car because the train ran into a cow, probably be leaves on the line followed by the wrong sort of snow next. PS last week I had to call the wife out to collect me with the car because the train ran into a cow, probably be leaves on the line followed by the wrong sort of snow next. not wish to getting into a sparring match you seem to more than enough sparring partners. leaves do get compacted into the railhead I help maintain both railhead and third rail [when it snows ] treatment trains in the northwest and northern England the jetters clean the rail head upto 1500 bar but are quite capable of higher jetting pressures. and quite capable of cutting through rail when stationary. also we operate maintain service on behalf of net work rail the third rail de icer round Merseyside third rail in winter. we achieve across the board and have done for 10 years plus 95%+ availability in regards to services provided for both services. as for running into a cow I cant do owt about that bud an act of god that.and as the railway is owned by various rail companys take it up with the guys you purchased the ticket off. embrace the future I know its made easy for a guy like me .at the end off the day its horses for courses to me you seem to be arguing against the wheel. which leads me onto my final ditty I can get you some good used loco tyres with good Gibson rings and witness marks full set 16000 grand no questions asked but no carbs fuel injection though Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its one of those 2 carriage Northern rail thingies with diesel engines underneath. Don't know if it EFI or mechanical injection. The "cow" scoop on the front is a flimsy plastic thing, could do with one of those iron girder jobbies like the old cowboy & indian engines. Give me sir Nigel Gresley anytime. english electric Posted September 9, 2015 Report Share Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) all tongue in cheek your riding a glorified bus, sprinter units built at Leyland as a stop gap look like a single decker bus and as uncomfortable. truth is I only took trials extremely late 50+ but I still laugh at my owd fella god rest his soul as angling [match fishing ]was my passion and how he laughed when I bought the first 7 metre poles[that weighed a ton] or started fishing braid instead of main line for long distance bream fishing etc etc.and it would never catch on and they were gimmicks.. if your honest just think about the bags of crap we used to drive when we were younger Cortina escorts vivas marina allegros princes datsuns rubbish gold seal Sherpa vans rubbish yorky tranist vans Bedford cfs they were pants!!! its relevant when you let rose tinted glasses cloud your judgement and look at things as you imagine how they were not what they actually where like.
