dadof2
A 300RR is $10K. Add dealers set up, tax, freight, title registration, etc and you are at $12K very quickly. And when you buy a bike in the EU don't you pay import tax/duties when you get it back to the UK and register it? A base model 260 is about £4000 before tax in Belgium. Import it into the UK and you will have to pay 20% VAT taking it to £4,800. The registration fee is a further £25 if you intend to use it on the road. On top of that there is an annual vehicle excise duty which I think is about £35 for a 260.

You're a bit out of touch - 1st reg is £55 + £38 for VED - but then you can cash in the VED element & get back 11/12 ths Importing a stock 4rt would probably save you £500, less the costs of going for it which would be a minimum of £250 So for a couple of hundred quid, is it worth it? I doubt it Might as well support Micky Oates or St Blazey in my book especially if they give you a good deal

johnnyboxer
or buy from an independent and not support the Honda uk model AND get an even better deal from a specialist......I think the 2 dealers I mentioned, have supported British track & off road Motorsport for a good many years & seem to have a good deal of Trials customers who seem happy I think the Honda model now works, I was sceptical at first - but I think it provides stability & adds control to the brand which benefits owners in the long term Gone are the days when anybody sold them & the market would undercut each other, that still happens in other Trials brands What's the point of having Trials dealer network & then still some people buying off the UK importer ? It means that the dealer is undermined & he's the guy who supports all the local clubs/riders with bikes/gear/spares & repairs - which is unfair With the Honda model - people know the price & where to buy & the dealer gets a margin No dealer can stay open without making a profit Profit isn't a dirty word & nor should it be I'm self employed & don't get out of bed - unless I can see a margin & profit out of a job I do for a customer Edited December 30, 2015 by johnnyboxer
nigel dabster
im self employed and can work for little or no profit some days even make a loss. Not sure of the relevance to Honda uk in either model? A specialsist independent will give you the years of knowledge of dealing with montesas since sandiford days and for some people the hundreds of miles to the 3 uk dealers is a chore, and whilst they may have been mx dealers does that mean we have to pay over the odds when the rest of europe is cheaper AND the exchange rate is in Honda uk's favour. I know of someone who is getting a RR from a dealer in Yorkshire who probably wouldnt have bought had the dealer not sourced a bike, supported the sport for years and get up to work when he makes no money some days. As far as im concerned you pays your money and takes your choice, but one things for sure Honda are probably selling only 50 % of the 4rt's being ridden, and theres good reasons for that.
