gordo
Looking for new shoes for my Penton Mudlark. Not sure what the hubs are, other than OEM. I'm told Rickman Zundapp are the same and maybe REH. But I'm not sure. Any information is appreciated. Thanks
stevewasvill1
Hi, i cannot see from your picture what type your hubs are, but i have a Wassell fitted with R E H hubs (Robin Humphries), it took me ages to find out what brake shoes Mr Humphries used, i finally discovered that he took standard Lambretta scooter ones straight off the shelf and designed the brake plate to suit. if yours are the same i can say that they are unusual in the fact that the "hinge" end of the shoe is a complete round hole that pivots on a pole fixed to the brakeplate, it is held in place with a circlip. Hope this is of some help, Steve.
gordo
Yes Steve, My shoes have a 12mm hole at one end. The plate has two poles fixed to it that the shoes slide over and are held in with circlips. What did you have to do to alter the brake plate to make the Lambretta shoes fit? Or will they fit right off the shelf? Any part #s for the Lambretta shoes? Thanks, Gordon
cleanorbust
You may find Arthur Francis Rayspeed (www.afrayspeed.co.uk), who are near me, helpful. They appear to have the brake shoes of this design in their online catalogue.
stevewasvill1
Hi Gordon, i have just checked a spare pair of shoes that i have and the pivot hole is 12mm as you say, they also have only one return spring between them instead of the usual two, they have "Made in Italy " embossed on them, but no part number. I did not have to make any changes to the brake plate, the new shoes fitted straight on. I have found the receipt for my shoes and it states that they are Lambretta, to fit models LI, TV, GT and SX all from 1959 onwards. Hope this will help you source some. As a last resort you could have your shoes relined, this is what i now do and keep rotating my spare set whilst the worn ones are away. Regards Steve. stevewasvill1
Gordon, just checked the afrayspeed link posted by cleanorbust and he is correct, the shoes are listed for the models i mentioned and look exactly the same as mine, reasonably priced at about £9 sterling. victor1
Hello Steve, if you're near rayspeed I'm near you. Which Wassell have you got ? I have a couple of them one on the road and one being refurbed, do you have any spares?
gordo
Thanks Steve and cleanorbust. Got my shoes in this week and am installing them today. The Lambretta shoes fit just like the stock shoes. The only difference being there is a 12mm steel sleeve in the holes of the OEM ones, and on the ones for the Lambretta there is just a 12mm hole drilled through the aluminum. Perfect fit. Thanks again for the help. I was able to find them here in the states too, in PA. Gordon
