I actually think dadioff you may have won the award for "moving the topic as far away from the original as possible " award.

The fact that edf has 66% and cgn 33% seems to have passed you by.

Good luck to gas gas at least we might get a 2016 after all.

Dear me Nigel, have you no sense of humour?. The shareholder % will probably have little bearing on who builds, supplies components for or runs the power stations.

As most people know a fair % of Chinese goods are crap and their safety record in mining, power generation and hazardous chemical storage hardly inspires confidence.

As for being off topic, fox hunting and cosmetics testing on the Scott thread must take that award.

Some posters had mentioned a possible Chinese interest in GG, that seems no longer to be the case, they are going to build nuclear reactors in southern England instead. Lets hope their nuclear engineering is more consistent quality than their other products or you southerners will have more to worry about than GGs future  :D

Re the proposed Chinese-built nuclear reactor at Hinkley Point, in Somerset, England, UK.  In 1607 there was a tsunami/flood, which covered that site and the areas surrounding it.  A wall of water, perhaps 30 feet high drowned thousands of people in the lowlands surrounding the Bristol Channel.  It reached inland as far as Glastonbury Tor!  There was a BBC Timewatch programme about it.  You can watch it on Youtube.  It is called "The Killer Wave of 1607".  Think what could/would happen if/when it happens again.

They do make an electric kid's trials bike.

http://torrotelectric.com/en/kids/t10

Perhaps they can paint it red and slap some new stickers on it!

That might be a joke, but it could also be not for from the truth.

We can all see Spain routing for the Spanish, it won't be a shock if a current, local bike manufacturer are successful.

I think they'll continue producing and selling some of the current Gasgas bike line up (maybe with some visual "nod" to the new owners, but it won't be anything too far from what we all know) and then start to merge their two product lines and start producing a line of electric cycles and bikes under the Gasgas name.

I can't imagine they'll all be trials models, perhaps one or two electrically propelled models might make it to market (the kids version linked above for a start)

More likely is they'll lend the name to their other products.

As already wirtten, no one's really heard much about them, but acquiring Gasgas, they'll have a (worthwhile?) Spanish name, perhaps bigger/better factory, cherry pick their empolyees, increase their importer/dealer network and a bit of sporting heritage to add to what they already have, all for a quite reasonable price.

I can see this being one of a range of Gasgas in the future, sold in your local Gasgas dealer and the name Torrot may slowly evaporate.

They might not be a well known name outside of Spain but it appears they must have some pretty deep pockets to be able to have that amount of money to dish out for what is left of GasGas. Maybe the owner of Tarrot is just a very wealthy individual  nuts about riding trials (specifically GasGas) bikes.

The workers support the Torrot offer:

"Good morning, are difficult times, the current situation in both politics and economics work against a sustainable recovery that stability to a country.
However a brand of motorcycles trying to survive
in this sea of mud which is complex out.
After ten months with a factory shutdown due to a battle of interests between partners and banks, after they exhausted all legal periods it gives a contest, sinking deeper into oblivion brand. After the judicial bureaucracy come into our process and curb further our survival.
We've got a brand wants to acquire our company and provide continuity.
The social part does not stop working and find solutions to survive, as all users who have one of our vehicles, many efforts being made by both workers, suppliers and importers to serve as spares.
You have to understand that in the midst of this process is not being easy, economic hardship is one of them.
We know the importance of continuity, it's our future but also a sector, so choose Torrot, the best, not only economic but because it gives us more choice of vehicles to compete and grow in various markets, a brand subrogated to 55 national workers and that within 18 months recover contracts priority those colleagues who are affected by an ERE.
After almost a year unemployed, the workers' representatives believe we could have gone much worse.
Ja our work is done, we presented today at the commercial court our position by the bidder Torrot. Now is the PWH trustee who has to decide which is the best deal and issue its report, also the judge who must determine and award without delay. If you are not able to award before November 18 we will lose our commercial network."
