greenlepard
I might have deleted the thread I started earlier. Trying to figure out why my 2001 rev3 won't fire. Has decent spark, new top end, carb tangs set low with little movement. 80:1 94 octane with stabilizer. The addict suggested maybe a woodruff key, so I'm about to check that out. Killing me that it won't start
greenlepard
Just noticed there is a chunk of the ignition cover missing and signs that water has gotten inside
greenlepard
Trying to order a flywheel puller and some things. Hopefully it is just the timing. Bikes had a few quwerks since I got it.
jfc
Some people cut a small v in the base of the cover to allow water to drain out of the cover rather than water building up inside the cover.
greenlepard
It broke a bit of the cover off where the chain guard meets the cover. Gonna silicone the new one up, maybe drill a drain hose too, idk. Edited September 25, 2015 by greenlepard
greenlepard
Got the puller and seal while I have it apart. Anything to watch for on these bikes? My first beta
greenlepard
So here's the stator, seems OK I think. Not sure about the copper plate on the coil top right in the pic though. It looks like its been rubbing.
greenlepard
So I'm thinking it needs a stator. I'll check the resistance. Sparks ok with a plug against the head, but when hooked up to a spark tester it was very weak. Anyone reading these ramblings have any thoughts? greenlepard
Clened up the stator coils and magneto. Ran a new ground to motor mounts from cdi. Starts second kick cold.
gottaride68
How was your flywheel key? (woodruff key) I had the same problem with my 2014 EVO300, we went though the whole bike, to find the flywheel key was sheered. Replaced the key, and bingo...exhaust came out the pipe....
