steamloco
Hi I think that I have just made a big mistake. I have bought my first trials bike after a layoff of 40 years. I used to ride in Bradford club trials. (Montesa 250) I was pretty crap then, and so I cannot be any better now. Are there trials that can cope with someone having a late life crisis? I'm not into balancing whilst stationary, and as for bunny hops-------- I've also heard that Manor Farm near Cross Hills is a place to practice. Is this correct? BTW, it's a Montesa 4RT Roger
johnsandywhite
Hi Roger. I have just come back to Trials after a 30 year absence from bikes altogether. Quite a few clubs run Learner/Easy Trials which I have been attending. One of those clubs just happens to be the Bradford Club:- http://www.bradfordtrials.com/index.php?/index Bradford Club Easy Trial last Sunday riding my son's 2003 GG 250 after I broke the gearbox on my 2013 Jotagas 300 :- Edited September 25, 2015 by johnsandywhite
telecat
Usual Places BUMPY at Birstall is always available and has enough to practice at your level but has a few good rocks and a nasty Gulley for when you feel braver. Parkwood Off Road at Tong is open once a month. Wide ranging site with lots to try. If you join Horsforth then their land at Swaine Woods on the Leeds Ring Road is available. Most Clubs have Novice Beginners series but they are running to the end of that season. West Leeds are at Post Hill tomorrow at 1pm and will have a very easy course. Bradford do run various Easy trials Seriews and usually they run throughout the year. Just watch the website

theluckyone
Its a wise decision that you have made, even the British Heart Foundation recommend trials riding! Having reached 56 I'm on my third comeback and currently enjoying a life of leisure so if you need a midweek practice buddy preferably at Swaine Woods, I'm available. I have a 4RT too.
rht
Hi Roger, Good to see plenty of members offering advice. Next month 10th October I will be marking out practice sections white flags very very easy and yellow flag sections for riders keen to improve very basic skills. Bumpy Trail park Birstall is the venue no observers just try the section that look good for you enjoy your bike riding I will be their on my 4RT Richard Thorpe
steamloco
Wow. What a fantastic response. Thanks to all. There's no going back now. I just need a towbar fitting. I only took delivery of the bike 2 hours ago and haven't ridden it properly yet. Please do keep this thread going. Roger 4RT
