wakka
Hi Take the rear caliper off the bike get a heat gun turn on to warm and heat the caliper up if you can hold it in your hand the heat is right, put a rag in the bolt hole take out the nipple, get a grease gun take off the tip cover put the tip in the nipple and pump it full of grease this should move one side then when that's free put a clamp on that one, that's free and lock it up pump more grease in to free the other side then pull out the pistons clean out, bob's ur uncle job done
totty79
Are you sure that they're seized? Have you disconnected the hose to confirm that it's not a hydraulic issue? If it is genuinely seized then I'd go with the method wakka describes.
petorius
I found mine seized also, managed to free them by removing pads and placing spanner through the middle and pumping to extend pistons. Cleaned pistons and has been okay since. I did have one side stick initially but clamped the good one with mole grips and worked the sticky one until free. craigack
The Pistons will come out just won't push back in I've removed the caliper completely and soaked the Pistons in wd40.
totty79
Wd40 swells some rubbers. Time to remove pistons and fit new seals.
craigack
Think I'm just going to order a new caliper.
dadof2
WD40 or anything similar will swell and wreck the seals. If you force the pistons back in on the swollen seals the piston will cut the lips off the seal. Take the pistons and seals out again. Boil the seals in water with a touch of detergent added. Clean out the seal grooves. Damp the seals with brake fluid before refitting. Coat tye pistons with red rubber grease before refitting. Pistons should push in with light finger pressure.
